In the article, A Gay-Marriage Solution: End Marriage? , by Michael A. Lindenberger elucidates on the rights for gay marriages in the United States. He states that the only solution about denying same sex couples the right to get married is to take away marriage out from the hands of the government. He states "Instead, give gay and straight couples alike the same license, a certificate confirming them as a family, and call it a civil union — anything, really, other than marriage" Additionally, he expands his claim by justifying the importance of marriage that society beholds. It sends a message to the gay couples that their losing out in life base on their decision to be different from the standards of society.
